The Community Unemployed Help Centre is an income security advocacy non-profit organization that specializes in helping clients who need help with Employment Insurance and Employment and Income Assistance.
CUHC strives to help our clients make sense of the complex rules, legislation, and policies which govern EI and EIA which can help clients obtain benefits, avoid penalties, and/or prevent delays in processing claims and applications. We can also speak directly to a client’s case manager on their behalf in the hopes of finding solutions to their issues informally.
With EI and EIA CUHC helps individuals obtain benefits to which they are entitled by providing:
* Information
* Advice
* Assistance in preparing appeals
* Representation at appeals
We also can provide resources and referrals to other agencies as needed.
There are three full time advocates at CUHC as well as an executive director and an intake specialist. CUHC also generally has 2 placement students, one social work student (myself) and one labour studies student.
