Adrianne Winfield

Adrianne Winfield, a determined individual with a wealth of potential, faced significant hurdles in her quest for meaningful employment due to chronic illnesses. Despite her academic achievements in laboratory sciences, arts, and human resources, Adrianne found herself caught in a cycle of low-paying, temporary general labor jobs that adversely affected her health. The prospect of building a sustainable career seemed elusive, prompting her to turn to Reaching E-Quality Employment Services (REES) for assistance.

In her initial meetings with REES, Adrianne’s dedicated employment counselor recognized her untapped potential. Recognizing the mismatch between her skills and the opportunities she had been offered, REES identified an in-house vacancy that aligned with her qualifications. Adrianne joined REES as a temporary receptionist/intake officer, not only gaining administrative experience but also deepening her understanding of the diverse barriers faced by people with disabilities in the workforce.

Adrianne’s tenure at REES served as a transformative period, highlighting the resilience of individuals facing exceptional challenges and the vital role played by REES staff in facilitating their meaningful participation in the workforce. Harnessing this newfound insight, Adrianne quickly transitioned to a pivotal role at Red River College.

Today, Adrianne thrives as a proctor in the Exam Accommodations department, ensuring equitable access for adults with disabilities. Her commitment and proficiency soon earned her an additional role as an Academic Attendant, where she continues to break down barriers to full participation in post-secondary education.

Adrianne’s success story embodies the essence of REES’s mission – to empower individuals facing unique challenges to secure meaningful employment. Through tailored support, Adrianne not only found a career that aligns with her skills and aspirations but also gained the flexibility to manage her health effectively while supporting her family. Her journey stands as a testament to the transformative impact of REES in fostering inclusivity, overcoming barriers, and championing the meaningful participation of individuals with disabilities in the workforce.
